Announcing Our Charity Of The Year

The employee-nominated charity, United Way of Southwest Virginia, received a donation of $2,500.

After nominations opened across the business for our 2024/25 employee charity of the year, several excellent nominations were submitted that were more than deserving of our support. Despite it being a difficult decision, and giving each cause due consideration, a final selection was eventually made.

Glasdon, Inc. are proud to announce that we are supporting United Way of Southwest Virginia as our official employee charity of the year.

United Way of Southwestern Virginia

With Storm Helene battering the east coast across the fall, much of the media attention circled around Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina, while other hard-hit areas in Southern Virginia went relatively overlooked. Support flooded in for those neighbouring states, but Virginians also struggled to deal with the aftermath, and required critical help themselves.

United Way of Southwest Virginia were on hand to help. As a local non-profit advocating for the quality of life for Southern Virginians, United Way aims to overcome the challenges facing their community. The non-profit focuses on healthcare, education, and financial stability as the key building blocks for a happy and successful life.

The charity also provides crucial relief to rural communities in the wake of natural disasters. Following Storm Helene, United Way raised over $1.4 million for their Disaster Relief Fund, whilst also assisting with emergency evacuations and rescuing trapped residents from heavy flooding.

On behalf of Glasdon, Inc, The DJ Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme donated a sum of $2,500 to United Way of Southwest Virginia. Every single dollar will go towards victims of Storm Helene and the devastation it wrought, and aid the long-term recovery of the wider region and community.

Upon receipt of the donation, United Way stated:

Your support makes it possible for us to continue to provide the programs and services that are so important to our community, and I want to personally thank you for your generosity.”
