Glasdon have launched a range of dedicated PPE bins, to support the collection of PPE waste in workplaces and reduce littering of used PPE in transport hubs, retail and public spaces.
As the new Guidance on Preparing Workplaces for COVID-19 becomes available, businesses and organizations are preparing for return to the workplace, implementing the stricter hygiene procedures and social distancing measures required to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
One measure for consideration in all aspects of our lives is the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), whether as a requirement in the workplace, on public transport or as we venture back into the grocery stores and the wider community.
Face coverings are recommended for anyone venturing out of their home, be it to work, to the store, or for any other excursion. While cloth face coverings are not considered PPE, employers should support and encourage workers to wear these whilst in the workplace, to minimize risk exposure.
For businesses, the guidelines state that the precautionary use of extra PPE is not necessary, except in clinical settings or when responding to a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19. Workplace exposure risk levels as set out by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) may help to determine which hazard control measures are necessary for your organization.
If a risk assessment does show that PPE is required, this must be provided to workers who need it, free of charge and they must provide training on how to use it correctly. PPE may also be used for performing daily in-person health checks such as temperature screening, and necessary equipment should be worn when using cleaning and disinfecting products, based on the manufacturer guidelines.
Dedicated PPE Receptacles & Disposal Stations for Collection of PPE Waste and to Reduce PPE Litter
These new ways of working and living bring the potential for a dramatic increase in PPE waste in all environments. Waste that is not familiar to us and that can present challenges for businesses and the general public in their duty to dispose of PPE hygienically and responsibly.
JD Villegas, Vice President of Sales at Glasdon, Inc., said:
We’ve responded as quickly as possible for our customers with an extended range of dedicated bins for the collection and disposal of used PPE.
It’s our aim to provide businesses and public service operators with solutions for PPE waste that help to simplify disposal for employees, customers and commuters, while improving the operational environment for waste teams and reducing the cross contamination of waste through a more efficient means of segregation for processing.
