Topsy™ for Patriot High

Patriot High School in Prince William County, VA is the 11th and newest high school in one of Virginia's largest public school districts. Opened in 2011, the school's learning program is based on the four principles of 'Leadership, Integrity, Character and Pride'.

Not long after the school opened, its Principal sought out modern trash cans to fit in with the state-of-the-art surroundings on campus. The school contacted Glasdon and chose the Topsy Trash Can.

The original Topsy Trash Can was designed more than thirty years ago, and the current model is used in streets and public spaces all over the world. Topsy's unique design features immediately set it apart from the crowd and turned it into a global smash hit.

Hooded trash cans are the standard in many countries, and increasingly popular here in the US. Unlike open wastebasket designs, they keep the rain out, cut down on trash being blown out by the wind, and stop homes and businesses depositing municipal waste.

With a lot of trash cans, hooded or open, operatives have to wrestle a heavy trash bag or liner up to the top of the can to empty it. A full garbage bag in a large trash can could weigh as much as fifty pounds, and municipal workers could be emptying hundreds of trash cans a day.

Topsy Trash Can features a lightweight polymer hood that lifts off the base, leaving the heavy steel or plastic liner with a lip of just a few inches to clear. No more straining! Topsy's Durapol™ material construction means that it will never rust, is easy to wipe clean, and never needs painting.
